Volunteers

The Food Pantry is a 100% volunteer operation, including those who serve on our Board of Directors. As a volunteer, your time commitment can be

  • One hour per week collecting or sorting food donations
  • Three hours per month helping with food distribution
  • More in depth, serving on the board or special committee.

Volunteers are especially needed during large events such as the Annual Postal Food Drive or during the holiday season when families have increased need for food assistance. Contact Us for further information on ways to help.

Brochures are available upon request.

Donations

Our partner agency, The Worcester County Food Bank, acquires and distributes a monthly allotment of canned, dry, frozen and fresh food and grocery products.

Bread, rolls and bagels are donated by Culpepper’s Bakery of Worcester, The Bagel Inn of Holden, and Pepperidge Farm of Shrewsbury.

Fresh fruit, vegetables and other groceries are supplied locally by Bushnell Farms of Rutland, Heaven’s Harvest of New Braintree, and the Big Y of Holden.

The majority of our food comes from food drives organized by local schools, religious and civic groups or the generous contributions from the community at our drop-off sites throughout the region. Due to limited storage space and changing food needs, please Contact Us so we can assist you in organizing a successful food drive benefit.
